1. What terms & conditions will apply to my rental?

    All Budget New Zealand rentals are covered by our standard Rental Terms & Conditions.
  2. I forgot to return my vehicle keys. What do I do?

    Please contact the rental location where you returned your rental vehicle and they will let you know be best course for returning the keys. The phone number of the rental location is printed on the Rental Agreement.

  3. What should I do if I'm involved in an accident in a Budget rental vehicle?

    If you're involved in an accident, please do the following:

    • Stop and check if anyone has been injured.
    • Give all the practical help you can and call an ambulance (dial 111).
    • Immediately notify the nearest Budget rental location (refer to the Rental Agreement for contact information).
    • If Police Officers have not attended the accident, and injury is involved, you must contact the Police within 24 hours and notify them of the accident.
    • If the accident involves damage to property (e.g. a farmer's fence) and the owners cannot be located, contact the Police within 48 hours.
    • Fill in the Budget Accident Report Form, located in the vehicle's glove box. Include the name, address, vehicle registration number, and the insurance company of any other person involved.

    For your protection, you should not admit liability under any circumstances.

  4. How do I unsubscribe or remove myself from Budget marketing emails?

    Budget may send email offers to customers who request however, If you no longer wish to receive email offers from Budget a please click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the email.

  5. I forgot something in my vehicle. Can I get it back?

    If you've left an item behind, phone the Budget location where you returned your vehicle. The phone number for the location is listed on your Rental Agreement or check our Budget Rental Locations page for a full list

  6. Am I responsible for tickets and traffic violations while I'm renting a Budget vehicle?

    Yes, the renter is solely responsible for any parking tickets or traffic violations incurred during the rental period.

  7. What refuelling options do I have?

    Budget offers three options for fuel:

    • Return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel as when rented and no refueling fees will apply
    • Return the vehicle with less fuel than when rented and pay a refueling service charge for the fuel used. The refueling service charge is a rate higher than the local retail fuel prices. The latest refuelling service rate will be shown on your rental agreement and is subject to GST.
    • Purchase the prepaid fuel option

    The prepaid fuel option allows the renter the option of purchasing a full tank of fuel at a price competitive with the prevailing local service station rates for regular unleaded petrol. This eliminates the need to refill the tank before the vehicle is returned. There is no credit given for fuel remaining in the vehicle at the time the vehicle is returned so the renter should return the vehicle with as little fuel remaining as possible. The prepaid fuel purchase option must be selected at the beginning of the rental.

  8. What should I do if my rental vehicle has a breakdown, or I need assistance?

    If the rental vehicle has a mechanical breakdown, is involved in an accident, or is damaged, you must immediately contact Budget Rent a Car to report the details.

A BCD (Budget Customer discount promotion code) is a 7 character code used for special offers that may be found in a variety of places in advertisements, on our deals page or emailed to you as part of our special E-newsletter offers. Enter the BCD into the BCD field; remember to check any terms and conditions applicable to the offer before you enter the BCD number.

If youre a Frequent Flyer member of FlyBuys member you may earn points on your rental charges, select the program you are a member of and enter your membership number and we will automatically credit your frequent flyer of FlyBuys membership with the applicable points after your rental has been completed.

If you are a member of an Australian motoring association you may be eligible to receive discounted rates from Budget. Please enter your membership number in this field.

Coupon or Discount numbers may be found in a variety of places in advertisements, on our deals page or emailed to you as part of our special E-newsletter offers. Enter the coupon number in the coupon/discount field. The value of the coupon will be attached to your reservation for reference. It will not be applied to the rental until you pick up the vehicle.
