Customer advice regarding the Coronavirus

At this time when the world is recovering and starting to reopen, we wanted to let you know that we are vigilantly implementing enhanced protocols to ensure your safety, as well as flexibility of your rental bookings.

The safety of our customers and staff is of paramount importance to us and we are closely monitoring the news, information, advice and guidance from the World Health Organisation and local authorities regarding the spread of the Coronavirus. Our focus is to ensure we meet customer needs while doing our part to keep you and our employees safe.


LOCKDOWN UPDATE - 21 SEPTEMBER 2021

Alert level 3 – Auckland

Auckland will move to Alert Level 3 at 11:59pm on Tuesday 21st of September.

Select Budget locations will be open under reduced operating hours, to provide vehicles for essential services and permitted purposes only, as defined by the New Zealand Government. If you meet the criteria and wish to make a booking, please make a reservation via the website, or get in touch with the Contact Centre on reservations@budget.co.nz or 0800 283 438.

Customers who currently have a Budget vehicle are encouraged to keep the vehicle for the duration of the level 3 lockdown, however contactless returns can be arranged at select rental locations. Alert level 2 – All regions excluding Auckland

The New Zealand Government has announced all regions (excluding Auckland) will move to Alert Level 2 effective 11:59pm on Tuesday 7th September.

All Budget locations will open to allow you to book, collect or return a vehicle. However, due to various travel restrictions defined by the New Zealand Government, some of our locations may have reduced operating hours.

Can I reserve a vehicle with flexibility to change or cancel?

To travel with complete flexibility, select the Pay at Counter option. This option offers free modifications or cancellations at any time.

What steps is Budget taking to ensure my collection and drop off is safe and my vehicle is sanitised?

The Budget Worry-Free Promise is the assurance that we’ve taken countless safety measures to make the experience safe for everyone.

We have enhanced our cleaning protocols, including utilising disinfectant that protects our customers and employees against pathogens. All vehicles are cleaned before every rental, paying special attention to high touch point surfaces such as the steering wheel, indicators, dashboard, hand grips, in-car entertainment controls, cup holders, keys, centre consoles, and all door handles, both inside and out.

The Worry-Free Promise allows customers to pick up and drop off vehicles with minimal contact. Paperless rental agreements have been instated, and upon returning the vehicle customers will receive their booking receipt via email.

What should I do if I have already made a booking, but it’s impacted by the Coronavirus?

For increased flexibility on all bookings, you can change or cancel, without fees, any reservations in New Zealand for rentals due to start before 28 February 2022.
